About LakeStone Labs

The problem

The natural collectibles market is almost entirely subjective, and new collectors face a steep learning curve to understand what separates a good specimen from a truly exceptional one. Terms like "museum quality" get thrown around as marketing language with no shared definition, and many new collectors are frustrated by how hard it is to understand quality. At LakeStone Labs, Museum Grade means something specific.

LakeStone Labs formed to bring science, technology and collector knowledge together to create a better market for the entire collector community.

Our goal is to create unique, one-of-a-kind products, bring much-needed clarity to a subjective market, and help collectors and vendors speak the same language, lowering the barrier for new collectors to join us and changing the market for the better.

We're by collectors, for collectors.

Why Lake Superior agates

Our founding team has three lifetimes of experience collecting Lake Superior agates from the shores and fields of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Iowa.

It's close to home for us, and we're passionate about proving this concept with our hometown stones and then expanding to other natural collectibles.

Where we're headed

We are collectors of all types of natural collectibles, and we're excited to expand to other markets as time goes on.
